This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge for qualified teachers delivering vocational education and training (VET) to learners in a school environment. It is specifically for existing secondary school teachers who hold a Bachelor of Education degree or higher, who require VET-specific knowledge and skills. Individuals who hold a qualification that enables them to become a registered secondary teacher can also complete this skill set.

When you finish this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Work in the vocational education sector
  • Design and develop learning plans for vocational training
  • Use nationally recognised training products and link learning to standards/benchmarks
  • Assess competence
  • Participate in assessment validation

Check each course option below as not all delivery options apply.

  1. Live Class- choose consecutive or non-consecutive days
    i) Group workshop with a trainer to support and guide you through activities. Ask us for scheduled course dates at locations convenient to you.

ii) We can also come to your workplace and deliver a customised program to meet your workplace needs (Minimum numbers apply. Contact us to discuss your particular needs).

  2. Blended Learning
This is a flexible and efficient way to complete your qualification. It may include live classes, online study, self-paced activities and webinars.

  3. Online
The entire course is offered electronically through our Learning Management System and BrainstormRTO immersive learning environment.

Some of the self-paced components of the program, eg, the Assessment Cluster (Validation), require assessments to be facilitated in your educational environment by an experienced VET teacher, trainer and assessor.

If you do not have access to an experienced VET teacher, trainer and assessor, our live, trainer-facilitated webinars are available to assist you in completing these assessment projects.

  4. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is the process that is used to recognise the skills and knowledge you have acquired through personal and work experience - the "University of Life". The evidence you provide is matched to a complete qualification where possible or alternatively, to part of a qualification. A successful RPL application means that you could receive certification without further study or may be able to fast track through a qualification. Please contact us to organise an individual assessment of your current knowledge and skills.

This course is designed for people interested in developing their capacity to be a vocational education teacher in a secondary school environment or TAFE / Private Registered Training Organisation.

  • Hold qualifications that enable the participant to obtain teacher registration in their State.
  • Demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed training and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include holding a relevant qualification.
